Dr. Mayu Kana

As a Naturopathic Doctor, my training included 4 years of post graduate education at The Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine.

I also did a one year clinical residency at the Brampton Civic Hospital, where there is a Naturopathic Community Clinic set-up there which was the first of it’s kind, as well as a clinical residency at The Sherbourne Community Clinic in Toronto Ontario.

All of these experience has given me in-depth understanding for treating patients with chronic patients, as well as other patients with co-morbidities and other diseases they are dealing with, including all the medications they are taking in.

We know how to deal with that as Naturopaths, indicating what kind of supplements and herbs a patient can take that will not counter-interact with the medications they may be on.

One of the things I enjoy is traveling, and when I travel, I learn from local medicines and local cultures which have been established in various countries.

One of the places I’ve visited and studied heavily in is Mumbai, India, where I spent 6 months doing a clinical residency there training in Natural Medicines, Homeopathy, and Ayurveda as well. All of these experiences have brought me to where I am today, in terms of offering the best health services I can for the community here in Forest Hill.

My focus is on optimizing your health and making sure you Thrive at what you do best. As a Naturopathic Doctor, my focus is using nutrition and lifestyle as the main priority, and I have a focus in a plant-based approach to nutrition as well. If you are vegan, or want to go vegan, or want to have a more plant-based diet, I use those approaches and have a focus in that when I advise my patients.

So what conditions do I treat? Typical conditions that I treat in my practice are gastrointestinal problems such as GI disorders, bloating, gas, inflammation of the GI, GERD, etc, as well as other chronic conditions such as eczema, asthma, diabetes, and hypothyroidism.

These are underlying conditions you may be going through, or that may be hidden, causing you to function a lot less than your optimal self. The modalities I use and the approaches I use are there to help you Thrive at what you do best. At Mahaya Forest Hill Integrative Health, I’m here to serve you and the Forest Hill community.
