Hayhlee Clarence is a board certified Naturopathic Doctor with a primary focus in supportive cancer care. Having seen firsthand the risk to patients when they receive conflicting or incorrect advice around how best to use complementary medicine, she is driven by a desire to have patients empowered by knowledge.
During her naturopathic education, Hayhlee spent time learning from NDs in British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Quebec, Ontario, and South Africa. As a clinical intern she was one of a select few chosen to work on the Adjunctive Cancer Care shift, where she not only had the opportunity to work exclusively with patients affected by cancer, but to shadow Oncologists at the Sunnybrook Breast Cancer Centre. As a strong advocate for conventional care, she recognizes that naturopathic medicine functions best when it comes alongside medical treatment, and continuously pursues additional training, attending the OncANP conference annually (Oncology Association of Naturopathic Practitioners), as well as medical conferences and symposiums specific to Oncology.
Hayhlee values integrating conventional and naturopathic care, but she knows that this is not always an option for people and is dedicated to supporting her patients at every stage of their cancer experience. Whether pursuing cancer prevention, preparing to enter treatment, undergoing treatment, or looking to maintain remission, naturopathic medicine is effective at helping to reduce side-effects of treatment, optimize the benefit of conventional protocols, and improve healing. She follows the best available evidence to formulate a safe care plan unique to each patient, their needs, and their goals.
While Dr. Hayhlee Clarence’s practice is focused on supporting patients who have been affected by cancer, she has seen the long-term risks of unmanaged inflammatory conditions, hormone imbalances, and higher risk family histories. Her door is open to any patient looking for a Naturopathic Doctor who will see beyond their diagnosis and work with them to develop a clear understanding of their goals and the best way to achieve them.
Dr. Hayhlee Clarence is licensed to practice in Ontario under the College of Naturopaths of Ontario and is an active member of the Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors (OAND), the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND), and the Oncology Association of Naturopathic Doctors (OncANP).
